Raising poultry is an amazing experience. There is nothing like going out in the early morning to be greeted by your loud, ruckous chickens and fresh eggs for your morning breakfast, watch your ducks gleefully swim around in their little pool, or watch a flock of quail move around the yard together.
There’s also nothing like having to deal with your first death after a local stealthy ‘coon has come to snatch up one of your babies, or for those who eat meat, grappling with the process of slaughtering and cleaning your birds. The lessons in raising poultry continues to make me rethink life, to grapple with the processes of birth, growth, decay and death, and always gives me a greater appreciation for existence.
These pages are a resource to deal with both the highs and lows of raising poultry!
